It’s been more than five years since my first overseas mission trip to Quito, Ecuador, but I’ve been working on a missions article for work and the nostalgia has hit hard.
Which, of course, explains this morning’s sprint down memory lane. Each of the following photos triggers certain emotions and experiences and reminds me of friends made during the 2011 spring break trip with Murray State’s Baptist Campus Ministry. Our time was filled with working in special needs orphanages, doing a bit of construction with a church, eating guinea pig, and taking in the sights of the stunning country.
So, here are some photos of our week in South America.
“The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof,
the world and those who dwell therein.” -Psalm 24:1
“We live in a wonderful world that is full of beauty, charm and adventure. There is no end to the adventures that we can have if only we seek them with our eyes open.” -Jawaharlal Nehru, First Prime Minister Of India

Guinea pig roast

“Yay guinea pig.” #exotic

This remains one of my all time favorite photos.

Swag master.
“The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.” -Eleanor Roosevelt

In case you were wondering, I do look the same in every culture.

Too bad this is grainy and my camera lens is disgusting.
