Follow me as I follow Jesus

Monday Morning Munch No. 134 – Too long for Twitter, Part Two

mainheaderTWITTER-04

Read part one here.

Here are a handful of quotes exceeding 140 characters that have filled my drafts on Twitter for months.

Annie Proulx: You should write because you love the shape of stories and sentences and the creation of different words on a page. Writing comes from reading, and reading is the finest teacher of how to write.

Justin Holcomb: The cross is the great equalizer: at the foot of the cross, we are all humbled as we grasp the magnitude of our sin and guilt; yet at the cross, the offer of forgiveness is made without bias or favoritism. Because Jesus is Lord of all, His Gospel is available to all.

Yesterday at the True Beauty retreat, a 14 year old taught her peers on the hypostatic union, another taught on Jesus and the people of His day, saying, “He was the Messiah they needed but not the One they wanted.” My heart could burst with joy—these girls get theology. May they get the transformative, grace-induced application as well.

Jonny Ox:
It wasn’t
written
in the Bible
but I like
to imagine
that when God
created Eve
He whispered
into Adam’s ear
and said,
“Let there
be love.”

1 Thessalonians 2:4: …as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, so we speak, not to please man, but to please God who tests our hearts.

Cindy Cochrum: Hearts that have been gripped by the truths of the Gospel become increasingly characterized by the kind of grace and mercy they have experienced.

Mary Frances Bowley: When God’s people come together to fight this good fight against the exploitation of innocence, the weight of oppression is exchanged for the weight of glory.

John Piper: There is a kind of tuning into the mind of God in His Word that comes from lingering in His Word-saturated presence. This is the fullness that could make all the difference in whether your heart resonates with the new music God is playing in your life.

1 Thessalonians 2:12: …We exhorted each of you and encouraged you and charged you to walk in a manner worthy of God, who calls you into His own kingdom and glory.

Cindy Cochrum: The more we grasp the realness of God’s mercy and grace in our own lives, the more our commitment to one another transcends our countless differences.

Dustin Willis: If we are going to reach people where they are, we have to be bold enough to speak the Gospel where they are and not wait on the “professional” to do what every believer has been explicitly called to do.

Keith Whitfield: We will not be able to recover a vision and passion for missions until we recover the grandeur that God made us to know and worship Him and make Him known throughout the whole earth.

Gloria Furman: Clarity bursts forth with shining brilliance out of foggy confusion when we teach that the so-called random stories in the Bible actually serve to collectively point us to the greatest (and only) story.
