If you’re around me for more than five minutes, chances are the topic of adoption will come up.
I want to adopt.
I want to support all the adoptions of the world.
I want other people to love adoption.
You get the picture.
I remember sitting with my sweet friends Brian and Lauren after dinner one night talking about adoption when they said (probably at the same time), “Have you read Adopted for Life?! If you’re thinking about adopting, you have to read that book.”
Unfortunately, my answer is the same as it was then: no, in fact, I have not read Russell Moore’s book on adoption. (It’s still on my list.)
BUT. I have listened to the most amazing podcast with Dr. Moore as he shares about the book, the theology of adoption and stories from adopting his two boys from Russia.
“Not every believer is to adopt or foster but every believer is to care for widows and orphans.” -Russell Moore
IT IS SO GOOD. I’m using all caps because it’s that great. It’s 24 minutes. I listened to it four times in two days. The Gospel is so clearly seen in the picture of adoption, and the way Dr. Moore shares everything explodes my heart in worship and adoration of this amazing God who adopted me into His family.
So. If you love adoption, listen to this. If you’re on the fence about adoption, listen to it. If you don’t see the point, listen to it. If you don’t care, listen to it. If you are a human, listen to it.
“But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.” -Galatians 4:4-5
