Are we spending our lives fighting for holiness or goofing off in our own sanctified nightclubs?
The following is a journal entry from May 21st that I keep coming back to almost daily to pray over and keep it fresh in my mind.
Another day, another opportunity to fight against what is not with what is real, against what I feel with what I know, and against what I want with what is necessary.
Today, I will make war. This moment, I will make war.
Will you join me?
I will fight against my poor attitude, selfish desires and love lust for recognition, and I will fight to depend upon the Holy Spirit, God’s Word and the One who was crucified and yet conquered.
Lord, You are good. You are holy and mighty and achingly beautiful. You are huge and sovereign and glorious beyond measure.
Take my life today, God, as a living sacrifice and burn it up for Your honor and majesty.
Open my eyes to behold wondrous things in Your Word and use it as You promised to sanctify and shape this leaky vessel into the image of the only One who truly matters.
We can confidently make war because a) it’s God’s will [Ephesians 6:10-18, 1 Timothy 6:12] and b) Christ was victorious on our behalf.
“When I know that Christ is the one real sacrifice for my sins, that His work on my behalf has been accepted by God, that He is my heavenly Intercessor – then His blood is the antidote to the poison in the voices that echo in my conscience, condemning me for my many failures. Indeed, Christ’s shed blood chokes them into silence!” -Sinclair Ferguson, In Christ Alone
Someone said to me over the weekend that i’m rushing through life. That’s a bit like this blog post. We fill our lifes with lots of other things and only come back to the Lord when things get heated. Love your ministry. Really encouraging post. Feel free to repost on Godinterest , God Bless
