I’ve been reading Experiencing the Presence of God by A.W. Tozer and in chapter seven he’s talking about how God gave Moses 100 percent specific plans to build the tabernacle. Moses wasn’t allowed to change, alter, add to or take away from God’s plan for construction.
This is what stood out to me:
“Our admonition is, do not doodle the plan. Do not improvise. Do not stick in a single board or plank. Do not put one thread into the garment of God. Do not dare lay one foundation or put one pillar upright except God tells you to do it. Do not deviate from the pattern given by God Himself.”
This reminds me anew of what God taught me through Psalm 16 and not forcing anything into the cup God holds for me. I don’t want to settle for anything less than God’s best.
“This is where true freedom lies–not making it up as you go along, but discovering the immutable decrees of God.”
“God’s words are not for me to edit and tinker with, but to believe and obey.”
So will we edit and tinker, try to force our plans and add a few pillars and planks into the blueprint God has given for the construction of our lives? Or will we trust and obey, living our lives surrendered to God’s plans, believing the Master Craftsman to be just that–the Master?
