“Read, but not to remember everything. Read because that 1% that you remember has the potential to change your life.”-C.J. Mahaney
I am so thankful for good reading.
Reading that is passionate, honest, deep and drives me to Jesus.
Currently I’m reading Experiencing the Presence of God by A.W. Tozer and What Jesus Demands From the World by John Piper while re-reading The Mark of a Man by Elisabeth Elliot.
Excellent books.
However, I also try to find time to exercise my heart and mind by reading blogs throughout the week and the following blogs were completely used by the Lord for me, and, although you’ll find a variety of topics, they all have the same goal: the exaltation of Christ.
I hope you find time to read them.
Good Reading:
The Well by Whitt Madden
A man wandered in the desert for many days after his vehicle had broken down. No sign of help. No sign of food or water. The heat of the noonday sun was bearing down upon him and discouragement began to sit in. His legs were giving out and just when he thought he wasn’t going to make it another step, he saw it. There just a few yards from where he was, stood a well.
5 Things I Wish Guys Knew by Tracy Edwards (on Katie Kiesler’s blog)
No. 2. Be humble! One thing that’s awesome about not having everything perfectly together, is that it gives you a chance to SHOW it. Show you are human and broken and need God. That is so attractive to me. Sidenote: Insecurity is not attractive. But security in Christ in the midst of your failings is a HUGE eye-catcher.
Male Perspective :: What I Wish Women Knew by Josiah Krause (on Katie Kiesler’s blog)
God’s will for your life is not to find out if a guy is interested in you, for if that is your focus, you’ve taken your focus off God.
Serving Not Leading by Cole Ryan
The Bible talks infinitely more about being a servant than it does about being a leader. God does not say “well done, good and faithful leader” – He says “well done, good and faithful servant.” (Matthew 25:21)
Joy in God’s Will by Michael Durham
Happiness for the Christian is determined by what makes God happy. Anything less is misery and, in the end, the real agony of defeat. How could David rejoice if he returned to Jerusalem knowing it was not God’s will? Joyfully resign to God and His will for you. It is better than any will you might have.
The Redeeming Power of Pain by the Connatsers
Some people are merely acquaintances with troubles, while others have been plunged into fiery furnaces.
But amidst the harsh conditions of this life, hope is alive. Peace is at hand. Joy is attainable.
Pain can be redeemed.
Come Away With Me by Lauren DeMoss
If we are busy loving the things of the world with part of our hearts, we can not be loving God with all of them too. God calls us as Christians to such a higher standard than we so often set for ourselves, and that the world sets for us. We justify it by saying that it is harmless, and for entertainment purposes only, but mark it down, that we can not live set-apart lives with one foot in the world.
We can not be dazzled by the things of the world AND the things of the Lord.
